What do I need to include on my website?
Most business websites consist of key information about the company including location and
contact information, business hours and types of services. If you have professional affiliations,
licenses or certifications, those should be included as well. Think about all of the aspects of your
company and the types of information visitors will be looking for and include that as part of the
overall design of your site.
I have a home-based business that offers a service or product. What do I need?
Most home-based businesses don’t have direct sales over the internet. You may offer landscaping,
home decorating or painting, pet services, have a consulting firm, administrative services or
similar. Most of these websites can just be very basic with contact information, service locations
and a description of your business. Many of these types of websites should include a portfolio of
previous projects completed or a few references from satisfied customers, as well as any
guarantees you offer, payment terms or other policies.
I want to promote a book I wrote, create a fansite for a celebrity or just have a fun site...
There are no limits to the types of sites people create. If you are an author, photographer or
musician, you should have a website promoting your art. If you have a cause you believe in, a
favorite pastime or hobby, or just want to have a site for a combination of your favorite things,
there are no rules. Personal sites, fansites and other types of sites can be a lot of fun to create
and have out on the internet for others to enjoy. Experiment and see what you want to have
online as a personal statement, whether it be for fun or for something more serious.
How Long will all of this take?
Most websites can be completed within 10-14 days once I have the information and materials on
hand from you that I need to start the design. This is for a standard page content, five-page site.
Print Media projects will generally be completed within 5 days -- this includes brochures, fliers,
and other print projects of this nature. All print ready files will be transmitted electronically
and/or mailed to you. I do not include printing services. I recommend you take your files to your
your local PostNet, Office Depot, Office Max, FedEx-Kinko’s or other independent print facility in
your town. Note: Your project will have a crisper look if it is printed by a professional print shop.
Flash slideshow or video presentations vary depending on the length. Once I have the materials I
need, the general timeframe is 7-10 days.
Digital Art varies depending on the complexity of the design. Most pieces are completed within 7-
10 days.
Website Hosting, Site Rankings and More
I can help you with hosting for your site and handle all of the technical aspects of getting your site
online. You should have your domain identified before we start, and I am available to help you
with that. I can also recommend a hosting company that is inexpensive and very reliable.
Additionally, I embed a Google verification code within your site, and include proper page names
and meta tags to improve your ranking at no additional fee. Note on Hosting: Don’t be fooled by
flashy ads campaigns or celebrity profiles. I recommend one of the most reliable companies out
there: Valet Hosting. Sites are $13.95 a YEAR; domain names are $9.99 a YEAR, with 99.9% uptime,
and a responsive team of professionals behind the scenes.
